Title: At All Costs from "Wish"

Music by: Julia Michaels & Benjamin Rice

Lyrics by: Julia Michaels

Voicing: SATB (divisi) + duet

Accompaniment: Piano

When the movie, "Wish", first came out, I remember getting a text from my little sister saying that I needed to listen to a specific song from the movie ASAP. Before even watching the movie (or even knowing the plot), I listened to a recording of "At All Costs". I was instantly drawn to the song and its beautiful track, its lyric melodies, but especailly the deeply emotional lyrics. Part of the reason why I was so drawn to the song was that I actually thought it was two parents singing to their child. I didn't realize that wasn't the case until I watched the movie with my kids for the first time. Everyone in my family loved the song so much that my husband and I chose it for our wedding reception to dance with our three kids to, as a symbol for combining our two families together. Naturally, I knew I had to arrange it. :-)

Often when I arrange a song, I try to do something different or creative with it. However, this time, I tried my best to stick to the original and simply add some extra harmonies here and there. I really listened even for some of the little patterns in the track that appear mutliple times throughout the song. The one part that I added was an extra iteration of the chorus before the finale, to add an extra layer of emotion, going from the bigger bridge, down to a quiet and simple duet, building back to the final chorus. This arrangement is great for your larger choirs to use a showstopper number in their next concert!!
